As Terry Bregy reads beyond the first few sentences every schoolchild has memorized in the Declaration of Independence, the listener will realize that this production is something special. Bregy's tone is as measured, reasonable, and firm as the Declaration itself, and his reading highlights the beauty of its words and ideas. His reading of the Constitution and Bill of Rights are equally well done, although these documents are more about practical matters than ideals and are not nearly as fun to listen to. Sam Fink provides short introductions to each document, giving listeners just enough background to transition while still letting the documents themselves take center stage. This recording will be welcomed by teachers, students, and history buffs. A.F. 2005 YALSA Selection (c) AudioFile 2004, Portland, Maine
